This question might have come to all of your minds that despite having a strict bio bubble how players are getting positive?
Recently, we saw Krunal Pandya got positive which made the other 9 players under isolation as well eventually cost India the T20 series against Sri Lanka.
Possible reasons why players getting covid positive despite strict bio bubble
1. Players, management and support staffs are in the bio bubble but others are not
Yes, the entire staff is in the bubble but what about hotel waiters, bus drivers and all the others who come in contact with players? They might be visiting their families, different people around them.
So it’s highly likely that they may come in close contact with the people who are suffering from covid symptoms and later on it can get spread to players as well.
2. Players pre and post meeting
Players interact often after post match presentations, net practices and share their experiences and thoughts with other team players as well.
Now think about it, if someone might have come to the contact of any outsiders including drivers and waiters how quickly can get spread.
3. Players are breaching the protocols
It’s also possible that few players might be taking the bio bubble lightly and breaching it without getting noticed. Like what we saw in England where 3 Sri Lankan players Danushka Gunathilaka, Kusal Mendis, Niroshan Dickwella breached the bubble and they got banned for a year by SLC for a bubble breach.
If they are doing so it’s just a matter of time before anyone can get covid positive. So despite having a bio bubble their safety is still in their hands. If they can’t be responsible enough then preventive strict action may get taken by the boards as we saw what the Sri Lankan board did to their players.
So these were a few possible reasons why players are getting positive despite the bio bubble. Let me know in the comment section what you think about this.
