IPL 2021 postponed as players got tested covid positive

Questions were there, will IPL 2021 get postponed or not? Bad news coming for cricket lovers all over the world as IPL 2021 postponed as few players and staff got tested despite being in a bio bubble.

Earlier, BCCI was planning to shift all the matches in Mumbai after the postpone of RCB vs KKR but more cases in the bio bubble forced BCCI to suspend IPL indefinitely.

It started from Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier from KKR, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan, bowling coach Laxmipati Balaji, batting coach Mike Hussey, bus cleaner.

Later on, Amit Mishra from Delhi Capitals and Wriddhiman Saha from Sunrisers Hyderabad also tested positive which made BCCI to postponed IPL 2021.

How players got tested positive despite the bio bubble?

According to KKR management, Varun Chakravarthy had gone to the hospital for a knee scan in a PPE kit, taking all the precautions and came back. But the question here is if everything was done under protocols how it happened? How players got tested positive in the bio bubble?

Well, all the players, coaches, support staffs are in the bio bubble but what about waiters, bus drivers and cleaners? They might be going to their homes and other places and if anyone gets positive it was a danger for the entire bio bubble.

Moreover, players do meet with each other during matches followed by the post match handshakes. Imagine if only one player from a franchise is positive it will put everyone else in trouble as well.

So it was the right decision from BCCI at the moment keeping player’s safety in mind.

Will IPL 2021 continue later?

When BCCi was planning IPL 2021 schedule and stadium, covid cases were in control. As a result, even the Indian Government hadn’t interfered in that. Otherwise, BCCI might have scheduled the IPL in UAE again.

It was unpredictable, all of a sudden covid situation became uncontrollable. Hence Indian Government urged BCCI to suspend IPL 2021 immediately.

However, BCCI officials said it just a pause, IPL will not get cancelled. As the situation gets normal BCCI will try their best to resume the remaining fixture of IPL 2021.

It might be somewhere in between the September window just before World T20 according to sources.

For now, BCCI told everyone to go back to their families and loved ones, positive members are still quarantined and BCCI will arrange private jets for Australian players to the Maldives as the Australian government has banned flights from India.

According to sources, reaming matches of IPL 2021 will be scheduled in September before World T20 this year.

Also, India’s hosting for World T20 is in danger. So, we may witness UAE hosting the remainder of IPL 2021 as well as World T20 this year.

Hope, everything will get normal soon we will get live action again.

One more thing, this wave is very dangerous. If it can happen to players with a strict bio bubble then who are we?

Just a gentle request guys don’t go out unnecessarily. Go out only if it is very essential – Wear masks, maintain social distancing, sanitize your hands regularly.
